Project Title

Effects of Music Therapy on clinical care patients

What's the most important thing you have learned in Science Research?

In my sophomore year of science research one of the most valuable things I have learned is how to read journal articles. Especially in the beginning stages of your research in your topic, you need to read countless articles to try to get a better understanding of your topic and what you might want to research. Reading a journal article is a very valuable skill to have.

Project Summary

My current science research topic is the study of how music therapy can aid different illnesses in recovery. There is very little recent research on this topic and it is very relevant in today's society. Music plays such a huge role in millions of peoples lives that I realized how important it could be even to the medical field. Illnesses such as depression and anxiety are relevant in many teens' lives and some medication used to combat these mental illnesses might be too strong for teens to handle daily. Depending on the medication given to you prescribed by a doctor, the side effects can be overwhelming. However, considering the research that has been done on music therapy there are little to no side effects of this therapy. Therefore music therapy might be the safer option for many teens and adults to reduce symptoms or aid the recovery of many illnesses.
