The Impact of Gender Roles on Mental Health and Allostatic Load

Mentor: N/A

In modern society, there are many ideas of how people should act based on their gender. The accepted idea of gender roles are constantly changing, especially in current times. I am studying the ways which people adapt to their assumed roles and how this adaptation can be linked to stress. Our brains are constantly changing to adapt to new circumstances and understanding how this works can help to develop a deeper background knowledge in this issue. Having greater insight into how people adapt to their gender roles can help to assess and develop trends across people. This is very beneficial in modern society to understand how these ever changing ideas of gender can be understood as a whole. I find this topic very interesting because it applies to the everyday life of people and it is helpful to know in the arguments about what gender roles should be.
